ClexaCon London 2018: Bisexual Representation in the Media
Despite making up a large portion of the LGBTQ community, individuals who identify as bisexual are rarely seen in media. When they are, they are often portrayed as mentally unstable, flighty, and unfaithful. These stereotypes are harmful to our community and the way in which we are treated by others in real life. Join us as we discuss the importance of improving bisexual representation and inclusion in television and film and celebrate the positive, well-rounded characters that we are starting to see.

A Day in a Queer Life: LGBTQ+ and Mental Health Presentation
On October 18, 2018, PSYNT psychologists Mariya and Marie-Diane gave a talk on their work as LGBTQ+ psychologists. The talk, titled A Day in a Queer Life: LGBTQ+ and Mental Health, was hosted by Leiden University Pride, and touched on the topics of mental health issues in the LGBTQ+ community, minority stress, and representation.
Marie-Diane and Mariya talked about their experience working as LGBTQ+ therapists in a predominantly cis/straight-dominated field. They also discussed the ways in which sexual and gender minorities can safeguard themselves against minority stress and ensure better mental health outcomes across the board.
After their presentation, a Q&A session with the audience took place, where Mariya and Marie-Diane elaborated on the presentation and took the chance to answer various questions.
